Insta fame Shan: Man found debris on Moon

ooooops!! It was tough time to get a two minute byte from an instant celebrity -Shanmugam Subramaniam. He found the debris of the Vikram Lander on the surface of the Moon.

Since NASA had mentioned his name and credited him for his help in finding the debris of the Vikram lander, media persons thronged his house. And when everyone wanted an EXCLUSIVE, he had a tough time!

Shan was really tired responding to the media persons since morning, some went to his office. When my turn came, I told him to have water first. He looked tired and weak. But a friend of mine told me thats the price you pay for  fame!!

படித்ததில் சிலவற்றை பகிர்கிறேன்

வேல ராமமூர்த்தியின் சிறுகதை:

குற்ற பரம்பரையினர் தொடர்பான நாவல், சிறுகதைகளில் ஸ்பெஸலிஸ்ட் இவர்தான்.

சமீபத்தில் அவரின் 'இருளப்பசாமியும் 21 ஆட்டுக்கிடாய்களும்' என்ற கதை வாசிக்ககிடைத்தது.

குற்றப்பரம்பரை குழுவை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் ஒரு திருட்டில் சிக்குகிறார்கள். ஒருவர் பலத்த காயத்தோடு மாட்டுகிறார். கதையின் கதாபாத்திரங்கள் திருட்டில் ஈடுபட்ட சம்பவத்தை நினைவுகூறும் வகையில் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது. களவுக்கான நேர்த்தி பற்றியும் விளக்கம் உள்ளது. முடிவில் அந்த குழுவை சேர்ந்த இளைஞன் ஒருவன் காவல்துறை அதிகாரி ஆகிறான். அவனுக்காக அந்த குழுவினர் 21 ஆட்டு கிடாய்களை சாமிக்கு பலிகொடுக்க முடிவுசெய்கிறார்கள்.

இளைஞன் வேண்டாம் என்கிறான். களவு செய்யாமல் விலைகொடுத்துதான் சாமிக்கு படையல் நடத்தப்படும் என்ற நடைமுறையை குழுவினர் கூறும்போது இளைஞன் ஒப்புக்கொள்கிறான்.

நேர்மைக்கான விளக்கத்தை உணர்த்தும் கதை.

 

''மாமியாருக்கு ஓட்டு போட்டேன்''

எழுத்தாளர் கிருஷ்ணன் நம்பியின் சிறுகதை ஒன்றை வாசித்தேன். தேர்தல் முடிவுகளுக்கு பொருந்தும் சிறுகதை இது என்று நினைக்கிறன்.

மருமகள் வாக்கு என்ற சிறுகதையில் வரும் மருமகள் கதாபாத்திரம், ஒவ்வொரு வேலையை செய்யும்போதும் அவளது விருப்பத்திற்கு பதிலாக மாமியார் சொல்லிக்கொடுத்த வகையில், அவளிடம் திட்டு வாங்கக்கூடாது என்பதற்காக செய்வாள்.

ஆனால் தேர்தலில் வாக்களிக்கும்போது மாமியார் பூனை சின்னத்திற்கு போடசொன்ன போது, மனதிற்குள் இல்லை இல்லை 'எனக்கு பிடித்த கிளி' சின்னத்திற்குதான் போடுவேன் என நினைத்துக்கொண்டாள்.

வேகமாய் வாக்குசாவடிக்கு போய், தைரியமாக வாக்கு செலுத்த எண்ணிய அவள், ஒருவித பயம் ஏற்பட்டு, அவளது கை தன்னுடைய விருப்பத்திற்கு மாறாக, மாமியார் சொன்ன சின்னத்திற்கு வாக்களித்துவிட்டது. அழுகையுடன் வருகிறாள். யாருக்கு வாக்களித்தாய் என தோழிகள் கேட்கும்போது, ''மாமியாருக்கு வாக்களித்தேன்'' என்கிறாள்.

இந்தியாவில் இதுபோல மாமியாருக்கு பலரும் வாக்களிக்கிறார்கள் என்றே தோன்றுகிறது.. மாமியார் என்ற பாத்திரத்தை எந்த உறவின் பெயரையும் வைத்துக்கொள்ளலாம்.

Its election time. Its a great time to revisit and bring many important social issues to the fore. I travelled to Thoothukudi,where 13 persons were killed in police firing last year, to meet victims, local voters in other constituencies. I wanted to check whether police firing against the 100th protest of the public seeking closure of Sterlite copper smelter.

Got a chance to talk to former chief election commissioner T S Krishnamurthy. With his experience in handling elections during the 2004 Lok Sabha elections in India, Krishnamurthy shared his thoughts on the challenges in conducting free and fair elections in India. 

I got his views on couple questions on election funds, ballot box voting method. He recalled how bogus votes were printed and stuffed into ballot boxes in some parts of eastern states of India.
